About Mellissa

– Dr Mellissa Prunty is Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at Brunel University. She completed her PhD on handwriting difficulties in children with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD).

Mellissa has worked in a variety of children’s services since qualifying as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist and specialises in working with children with coordination difficulties. She runs a research clinic at the university which investigates key skills and participation in childhood including handwriting, activities of daily living and cycling.

Chair of the National Handwriting Association, Dr Mellissa Prunty also runs the West London Handwriting Interest Group. This brings together teachers, psychologists and health care professionals to discuss all things handwriting.
